Junior Program

Great Glen Trails is proud to work with the Mount Washington Nordic Club and Jackson Ski Touring Foundation for an expanded Junior Program this winter. Now in its ninth year at Great Glen Trails, the Junior Program focuses on technique and fitness development for aspiring skiers ages 12-18. The program includes high level coaching, ski skills development in both freestyle and classic technique and race tactics.  

For the 2007/2008 season, the program expands to include dates at Jackson Ski Touring Foundation. The Junior Program begins on Saturday, 10/27 at at Great Glen Trails with dryland training. Throughout the winter season, the program will alternate locations each session. The final week is Saturday, 2/16 at Jackson Ski Touring Foundation. Hours: 9:30 am - 12:00 pm.

Schedule:
Oct 27  /  Nov 10  /  Dec 1, 15, 29  /  Jan 5, 12, 19  /  Feb 3, 16.

The Junior Program features two coaches: Steve Vosburgh and Pete Brockett.

Steve Vosburgh has spent the last 20+ years coaching Nordic skiers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. He will utilize video and other teaching resources to create a valuable learning experience. Steve is an athlete too, having been undefeated in his senior year as a high school skier. He continues to enjoy and excel at local and regional races and will participate along with the athletes.

Pete Brockett, a Gorham resident, joined Great Glen’s staff in ’02 as a ski instructor. He also has assisted with coaching skiers at Gorham High School.

The program focuses on:
•    Skills development in both freestyle and classic technique
•    Individual video analysis and race video analysis
•    Waxing for classic technique
•    Cornering and downhills
•    Race tactics
•    In-season race evaluation and specific attention to strengthening skills

Program includes:
•    Weekly Saturday sessions
•    2007-2008 Season passes for both Great Glen Trails and Jackson Ski Touring Foundation
•    Two and a half hours of instructional skiing
•    Special Team pricing on equipment purchases

Rates:
Entire season: $240
Single day: $35, plus trail pass.
