Pinkham Notch, NH—Great Glen Trails will open the one-of-a-kind SnowCoach on Saturday, December 8, 2007. The SnowCoach brings passengers up to treeline on the Mt. Washington Auto Road to experience winter on Mt. Washington.
Winter brings a whole new set of sights and sounds to the White Mountains: the crisp mountain air, the crystal blue skies, the soft crunch of new snow. And, the SnowCoach is the best way to experience them all. It is the only ride of its kind in the Northeast. A specially constructed all-wheel drive and unique 4-track system allows the 9-passenger SnowCoach to travel to treeline at the 4.5 mile mark on the Mt. Washington Auto Road. The SnowCoach also gives passengers the option to cross country ski, telemark ski or snowshoe down the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
SnowCoach tours last approximately 1 ¼ hours and depart daily, weather permitting, from December through March on a first come, first served basis. Operating hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, depending on weather and road conditions.
The SnowCoach is available as a stand-alone tour or as part of the Trails Total Ticket, which offers complete access to everything available at Great Glen Trails for one discounted price. The Trails Total Ticket includes a trail pass for cross country skiing and snowshoeing; cross country ski and snowshoe rentals; all-day access to the tubing hill and SnowPark, a session on the climbing wall and a tour on the SnowCoach.
Great Glen Trails is currently open for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snow tubing daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Great Glen Trails hosts the first Nordic ski race in New England on Saturday, the Atomic Sprints at Great Glen. The race begins at 1:00 pm.
